SENSATIONAL DESIGNER 1950s\' EGGPLANT COLOR VELOUR + TOPSTITCHED WIDE BRIM HAT
download picture
description
Th is beautiful and large hat was designed by famous British designer PHILLIP SOMMERVILE. The round crown is surrounded by a very wide brim which is topstitched all over. The underside of the hat is made of a matte coordinating color. Around the crown there is a draped piece of fabric that matches the brim underside color. This is simply a divine and timeless creation.
Label: PHILLIP SOMERVILLE Model London + Warning label: \" DO NOT WEAR THIS HAT IN RAIN\"
Philip Douglas Frank Somerville[3] (12 February 1930 – 14 September 2014) was an English milliner – partly trained in Auckland – who had a salon in London. He is widely known for hats worn by the Queen – from whom he held a Royal Warrant – and Diana, Princess of Wales. He also created headgear worn by two James Bond villainesses.
Please keep in mind that you are buying a vintage hat, not new nor perfect! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, furs, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
