How recurring tasks work

Last reviewed: 13 October 2026

Repeat tasks daily, weekly, monthly or yearly and track each occurrence separately.

Tasks can repeat every day, week, month or year. You can also set a repeat-until date.

For a monthly item on the 29th, 30th or 31st, Organise You asks what should happen in a shorter month: skip that month or use the last day of the month. Existing monthly items keep their previous skip-month behaviour until you edit them. If a last-day series is anchored to the 31st and February displays it on the 28th or 29th, editing that occurrence and future occurrences keeps the original 31st pattern unless you deliberately change the schedule.

Each occurrence has its own status. Marking today's task as Done does not complete tomorrow's occurrence. If you edit only one occurrence, its Done or Skipped state stays with that one-year/one-date exception. A past occurrence that has not been done or skipped remains Missed even if you only correct its title.

  • Done — you completed it.
  • Skipped — you deliberately did not do it.
  • Missed — a past recurring task was not completed or skipped.
